Apple: All iPad and iPhone Models Will Be Back on Sale Online in Germany Shortly

That was fast.

Apple, which has spent the past day pulling older model iPhone and iPad inventory from the shelves of its online store in Germany, is now scrambling to restore it. This morning, a court temporarily suspended an injunction that prevented Apple from selling or distributing iOS devices believed to infringe certain Motorola Mobility patents.

In a statement given to AllThingsD, Apple confirmed that the iPhone 3G, iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4 and 3G/UMTS-based iPads should be returning to the shelves of its German online store in a matter of hours.

Nine Out of 10 iPhone Buyers Are Picking the 4S

Apple sold some 37 million iPhones in its most recent quarter. Turns out most of them were the iPhone 4S.

Though Apple declined to break down iPhone sales by model when it reported first-quarter earnings earlier this week, a recent consumer survey by Consumer Intelligence Research Partners (CIRP) does just that. And it finds the iPhone 4S to be the most popular model of the device, by far.

According to CIRP’s survey, iPhone sales in the U.S. have favored the 4S above all other models since the device’s Oct. 14 launch in 2011, despite some new and compelling pricing for … Continue Reading

iPhone Average Selling Price Remains Steady Even With Free 3GS Offer

Earlier this week, Apple reported its best quarterly earnings ever, taking in more than $46 billion over three months. 53% of that revenue was from the sale of 37 million iPhones, at an average selling price of nearly $660. This ASP is particularly impressive, considering this is the first quarter that Apple has sold a “free” iPhone in the U.S. — the iPhone 3GS is available for free to new two-year contract signers on AT&T.

Apple’s iPhone ASP has remained fairly consistent, hovering between $622 and $660 for most … Continue Reading

Will Apple Redefine the Meaning of "Earnings Blowout"?

After a rare earnings disappointment last quarter, Apple is poised to return to form when it reports its first-quarter numbers today.

In other words, it’s going to be a blowout.

And for a number of reasons. Foremost, this is the first quarter to include the new iPhone 4S, which went on sale last October. Apple sold one million of them in the device’s first day at market, and some analysts estimate that, together with the iPhone 4 and 3GS, the company sold upward of 30 million iPhones during the quarter.

iPhone 4S Surges in Battle of Britain

Pent-up demand for the iPhone 4S in Great Britain has carried the device straight to the top of the country’s sales charts. According to data from Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the iPhone captured nearly half of U.K. smartphone sales in October, overtaking its Android rivals.

“Apple took a whopping 42.8 percent share of all smartphone sales, giving it a significant lead over Android — a feat many thought was impossible,” Dominic Sunnebo, global insight director at ComTech, explained. “With nearly a year and a half between iPhone launches there has been huge pent-up demand.”

iOS 5.1 Beta References Unreleased iPad 2 Variant (iPad2,4)

iOS 5.1 Beta SDK reveals a never seen before iPad product id, according to 9to5Mac. The new product id is “iPad2,4″, suggesting a minor variant of the current iPad 2 line.

The current iPad carries the following number designations, which show differences based on the type of cellular antenna, if any:

iPad2,3 – Verizon iPad 2

Naturally, “iPad2,4″ could represent a Sprint supporting variant of the iPad 2 that has been previously rumored. Apple was reportedly considering a Sprint … Continue Reading
