News: Nintendo: 4m 3DS sales in first month

But slashes profit forecast.

Hot on the heels of its Japanese 3DS launch date and price announcement this morning Nintendo has confidently predicted it’ll shift a whopping four million units of its handheld wonder during its first month on sale.

In the same breath, however, it cut its profit forecast for the rest of its financial year, which ends in March 2011.

Nintendo now expects $1 billion in profit for the year, down from an initial projection of $2.4 billion profit. How will it live?

News: Bayonetta free with Vanquish pre-order

Play.com exclusive.

If you pre-order upcoming action game Vanquish you’ll get Japanese developer PlatinumGames’ other game Bayonetta free – but only at Play.com.

Play.com said the impressive deal is available for a limited time only. The online shop will bung in a lenticular sleeve, too.

A PlayStation Store and Xbox Live Marketplace demo is out now, for those of you sitting on the fence. Publisher SEGA will release a second demo in the West after the game’s 22nd October release.

News: 3DS Super Monkey Ball out next year

Utilises the 3DS motion sensor.

A Super Monkey Ball game for Nintendo’s 3DS is in the works and is due out next year.

It’s called Super Monkey Ball for Nintendo 3DS (a working title) and features series favourites AiAi, MeeMee, GonGon and Baby.

“The moment I saw the features of the Nintendo 3DS, I could not help thinking how perfectly Super Monkey Ball would work on this new hardware,” said excited Super Monkey Ball creator Toshiro Nagoshi.

News: Kinect will talk to MSN Messenger

There’s no end!

This autumn’s Xbox Live update will allow Xbox 360 owners to video chat with PC owners using Kinect. Suddenly, £130 seems like pennies.

Marc Whitten, Xbox Live general manager, was “excited” to confirm the feature in an open letter published today.

But most of his address concerned the big-ticket additions of ESPN telly (for the US) and Zune music (for UK, US, France, Italy and Spain).

News: Castlevania demo leads PSN update

Plus: Borderlands DLC! DeathSpank! Lara!

There’s plenty for everybody on the PlayStation Store today. I hope. Otherwise I’ll look stupid for saying that.

There are demos of Castlevania: Lords of Shadow (review), MMA, My Sims: Sky Heroes (aerial combat) and WRC FIA World Rally Championship.

There are also free trials of this week’s new games: the excellent Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light, DeathSpank: Thongs of Virtue and TerRover.

News: Black Ops’ "worst kept secret" revealed

ZOMGbies.

Zombies have finally been confirmed for Call of Duty: Black Ops by publisher Activision.

The four-player, wave-based co-op mode was outed prematurely by a Bradygames guide for Black Ops earlier this week.

Activision acknowledged that Zombies was one of the “worst kept secrets” of COD: Black Ops.
