News: Dragon Age 2 dialogue choice simplified

Three icons: good, nasty, “badass”.

BioWare has whittled Dragon Age 2 conversation choices down to three.

“Good” responses will be earmarked with an olive branch, “nasty” answers by a Greek comedy mask and “badass” by a red fist, according to IGN.

Also, at key points during dialogue there will sometimes appear an option to allow a companion to handle a situation in a cinematic way. An example given was a group of orcs being literally sliced to pieces during a cut-scene by either Hawke or the female companion – whoever you opted for.

News: Warner unveils Green Lantern game

Action adventure to shine alongside film.

Film tie-in alert: Warner’s announced a Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters game will accompany the Green Lantern film next summer.

Double Helix Games (Front Mission Evolved, GI Joe) will make the PS3, Wii and Xbox 360 games while Griptonite handles the DS version.

An action adventure, Rise of the Manhunters gives you the Green Lantern power ring and asks you to save the universe. The game goes “beyond” the film and comic, apparently.

News: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood beta dated

Multiplayer test exclusive to PS3.

PS3 multiplayer beta testing for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood gets under way in September.

Ubisoft announced the date at the end of a new video, which shows a variety of ways in which death can be gifted.

Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood takes hero Ezio to Rome and asks him to train an army to take down the Templars. On top of that, there’s multiplayer for the first time ever in the series.
Ubisoft defended Brotherhood’s worth as “not a 2.5″ release to Eurogamer last week.

News: inFamous 2′s Cole re-redesigned

Are you happy now?

Developer Sucker Punch has redesigned inFamous 2 star Cole McGrath so he looks more like he did in the original game, according to a report by IGN.

The version of inFamous’ parkour-loving protagonist shown to press at E3 2010 last month had more hair, tattoos and other trendy bits and bobs. Christian Donlan went hands-on for Eurogamer.

In the first game, he was a mere bike messenger. In inFamous 2, not so much. Guess that’s what success does for you.

News: Spec Ops: The Line beta invites out

For “small number” of Xbox 360 owners.

2K Games has sent Spec Ops: The Line beta invites to “a small number of applicants” on Xbox 360.

Joystiq confirmed this with the publisher, which added: “We’ll be adding more people into the private beta in the coming weeks.”

We’re trying to find out about a PC and PS3 beta now.

News: EA’s John Schappert loves the 3DS

Also talks about the PSP and Activision.

EA’s second in command John Schappert loves Nintendo’s 3DS.

He described Sony’s PSP business as “challenged”, and said stories about rival publisher Activision “haven’t been very positive”. Zing.

“The 3DS is just incredibly cool. The 3DS is magical. You put that in your hand, you look down, and all of a sudden it’s in 3D without glasses. That’s an amazing experience. I’m a huge fan,” Schappert told IndustryGamers.

News: Hitman 5 out Xmas 2011 "at the earliest"

IO hard at work, sources tell us.

Danish developer IO Interactive is hard at work on the next game in the popular Hitman series, Eurogamer has learned.

The PC, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 title will be released “at the very earliest Christmas next year”, one source told us.

The claim was backed up by retail sources, who have indicated to Eurogamer that a release later in 2011 “will be most likely”.
