News: "Copious" APB to-do list being addressed

We were preoccupied with launch, says RTW.

Bravely, Realtime Worlds has called for you to submit a “hit list” of APB features you think need urgent attention. Because now, finally, the developer can do something about them.

“Over the last number of months, through the closed beta and KTTC, we’ve collected a huge number of issues, complaints, suggestions and requests covering all aspects of the game,” wrote Realtime’s Neil Castle on the APB website.

News: Eyecare Trust: "3D not causing problems"

But even 3DS will exacerbate them.

The Eyecare Trust has told Eurogamer this afternoon that stereoscopic 3D will not “cause” eye problems.

“It’s an existing disorder you have with your vision that means you’re unable to view the 3D properly,” charity spokesperson Rachel Robson clarified. “It’s not the 3D causing a problem with your eyesight.”

Yesterday, The Eyecare Trust charity revealed that more than one-in-10 people suffer from a binocular disorder that prevents comfortable 3D viewing. For those people, headaches and nausea await.

News: Kane & Lynch 2 here a week early

They don’t hang about.

Gritty shooter Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days has been moved forwards to a 20th August release.

North Americans will play slightly earlier from 17th August.

The multi-platform shooter – PC, PS3, Xbox 360 – had been expected in Europe on 27th August.

News: XBLA a "slaughterhouse" for small devs

Joe Danger sold 50k in first week on PSN.

Joe Danger was launched on PlayStation Network because Hello Games believed Xbox Live Arcade was a “slaughterhouse” for small developers.

Co-founder Sean Murray – speaking at Brighton’s Develop confernence today – said nearly half of all XBLA games sell less than 25,000 copies.

“Why choose PSN?” he asked the audience, as reported by sister site GamesIndustry.biz. “It was the only way we could self-publish.

News: Cage exploring "very different universes"

Quantic Dream “will not play it safe”.

Quantic Dream’s creative conductor David Cage has shared his desire to explore “very different universes” with his new game.

Heavy Rain bestowed “credibility” upon the studio, he said, and Quantic Dream has no desire to “play it safe” from here.

“I remain interested in drama, dark themes and characters’ feelings and psychology, but now I would like to explore very different types of universes and tell different types of stories,” he told Examiner.

Interview: InstantAction’s Louis Castle

Why Call of Duty will end up in your browser window.

Louis Castle’s been around the block. The American videogame designer co-founded Westwood Studios, which, as all real-time strategy fans know, created the groundbreaking Command & Conquer series.

He stayed on when EA bought Westwood, eventually becoming a big cheese within the publishing behemoth when it closed the studio in 2003. Then, in 2009, Castle joined InstantAction as CEO, and set about changing the way we play games.
